Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Award win as “Volunteer Group of the Year”
What an incredible opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the WeCareCMH North Dumfries Campaign Committee, as we share their Chamber of Commerce, Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Award win as “Volunteer Group of the Year”
Genuine community spirit and remarkable enthusiasm for a better healthcare experience and facilities motivates this committee’s innovative approach to fundraising, and drives their success to the benefit of all in the community CMH serves. This dedicated group of a dozen volunteers set out on their mission in 2015 with a goal of $250,000. Within one year they had raised their goal to $500,000 and are still going strong with over $2M raised to date, and a commitment to continue actively fundraising until 2019.
The Emergency Department Waiting Room in the hospital’s new wing is named in honour of North Dumfries Community donors who have responded keenly to the committee’s requests. Fundraising events like dinner dances, ham dinners and a historical house tour have been an important part of this committee’s fundraising, and has helped to build community awareness of hospital needs and how equipment is 100% community funded.
Thank you to the Chamber for celebrating community volunteers and to Reid Heritage Homes for sponsoring this ‘Volunteer Group of the Year’ award!
