Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation Celebrates 30 Years of Trees of Caring
Cambridge, Ontario – November 15, 2018
Our community has supported Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation’s (CMHF) Trees of Caring for an incredible 30 years. In this time more than $5 million has been donated by local families and businesses. As we celebrate this 30 year tradition, the lights will shine brightly along Coronation Boulevard beginning mid-November as donations arrive at the hospital.
Cambridge residents, Barb and Tom LeBrun, who have donated to Trees of Caring for 30 consecutive years shared what inspires them to keep giving. “Our lights on the tree are dedicated in memory and in honour of our children and grandchildren. It is a way to show our gratitude for the exceptional healthcare we have received. We encourage everyone to share the satisfaction of contributing in a meaningful way, to the acquisition of equipment for our community hospital. Together we can make a difference.”
The LeBruns are in good company. At least 50 generous individuals and businesses have donated every year, for over 25 years. These gifts have helped provide exceptional patient care and supported essential equipment renewal.
In this year’s Trees of Caring letter you will get to know CMH Foundation Board member, Kate Cressman, a local volunteer and Co-Chair of WeCareCMH North Dumfries Campaign. Kate has watched her children and grand-children grow up in this community, and is excited about the growth and redevelopment of our hospital. She knows it will mean expanded services for her family and friends.
Kate’s message to the community focuses on the importance of giving back to your local hospital and how the lights set the stage for all of her families’ holiday traditions. The Cressmans’ lights honour Kate’s sister and several special loved ones.
Buying a ‘bulb’ ($10) or string of lights ($250) to light the Trees of Caring , will help to provide care and comfort to our patients. Donations can honour a caregiver, a loved one, or the memory of someone special.
Trees of Caring donations are used to purchase new and specialized equipment for the hospital’s new wing. 100% of equipment purchases and 10% of construction or renovation comes from public donations. Every year, thousands of lives are touched because of essential funding that comes from the annual Trees of Caring Campaign. Our generous community makes this possible and helps Cambridge Memorial Hospital be there when you need us most.
