Do you wonder how your support of CMH is changing healthcare in this region? There are six key areas that will be improved- or completely transformed by the time the WeCareCMH project is complete.
The Emergency Department: If you’ve been to our Emergency Department you likely know it could use some improvement! Built to accommodate 30,000 to 35,000 patients per year, we currently have over 55,000 visits a year.
Intensive Care Unit: In conjunction with the expansion of our Emergency Department, the ICU will expand to twelve beds from the current seven beds.
Mental Health Program: Mental health is a growing area of concern across Canada. Cambridge is no exception. Our mental health program should be providing 25 beds, but we only have space for 20 beds at the moment. Once our new patient tower is complete, we can expand to provide the 25 needed beds.
Birthing Unit: The birthing unit will move to the main level of the new tower, closer to the operating rooms—to help minimize risk to mother and baby, especially when a C-section is needed.
Operating Rooms: Our hospital not only needs more operating rooms to address the healthcare needs of our community, it also needs larger ORs to accommodate advanced equipment used in minimally invasive surgeries.
Inpatient Rooms: Our existing inpatient rooms will be renovated to meet the latest standards in accessibility and infection control. The new rooms will be much larger, to more safely accommodate medical equipment, staff, patients and loved ones.
